Our story
We did not study this business. We run one.
Greenlit started inside Welaka Golf Carts, our own street legal cart rental company on the St. Johns River in Putnam County, Florida.
For two seasons we ran it the way most people do. A spreadsheet, a phone, and a paper agreement signed at the cart while somebody's kids climbed in the back. It worked until it did not. The thing that finally got us was Sunday nights. A call at nine for a cart on Tuesday, straight to voicemail, booked with whoever picked up.
So we went shopping. Everything we tried was built for kayak tours or party tents and bent sideways to fit a vehicle. None of it had a spot for a plate or a VIN. None of it put the drop off address on the booking. None of it had an answer for the renter who brings a cart back with a scratch and says it was already there.
We built what we wanted. Then we ran our own season on it before we showed anybody else.
Who you are dealing with
Two people. Both of us answer.
Bookings, deliveries, agreements, and the nine o'clock call asking to keep it one more day. If you get on a call about Greenlit, you are talking to somebody who was loading a cart on a trailer last week.
Writes and looks after the software, and runs Really Guy Labs, the studio behind Greenlit. When something breaks he is the one who fixes it, and usually the one on the call.
The awkward bit, first
We rent carts. You should ask about that.
You would be putting your bookings, your customers and your prices inside software owned by another cart rental company. That is the first thing we would ask. So here is the answer before you have to.
- We cannot see your account. Not your bookings, not your customers, not your rates.
- We do not sell or share your numbers, not even mixed in with everyone else's.
- We will not open or buy a cart business in your area while you are a customer.
- You get all of that in writing before you commit to anything.
Ask us for it in writing and we will send it, whether you sign up or not.
Welaka Golf Carts still runs on it.
Not a case study. A company you can look up, call, and rent a cart from.
Come talk to an operator.
Thirty minutes, no slides. Ask the hard questions first. We like those better.
